Gluten-Free Pizza Crust: Beware of False Advertising

How can you tell if the pizza crust you've bought that claims to be gluten-free is truly a gluten-free pizza crust?  Why does it matter? It could mean your life.

Neutralize Gluten-Sensitivity With Foods Such as Gluten-Free Pizza Crust

Let's face it.  We live in a time where false advertising is king.   There is a dizzying plethora of labels on our food choices

proclaiming them to be all natural, organic, low-fat, low carb, light, diet, and most crucially of all, gluten free.  However,  while there is no such thing as good false advertising, in the case of something bearing the gluten-free label, such as a package of gluten-free pizza crusts, false advertising, or more to the point false labeling can literally mean the difference between life and death.
According to the Celiac Support Association: "Celiac disease (CD) was first described in the second century, but the cause wasn't identified until the 20th century. Terminology has changed as research confirmed that celiac disease diagnosed in children was the same disease as non-tropical sprue diagnosed in adults. The term "celiac disease" is now most commonly used. Another term for the same condition includes "gluten sensitive enteropathy." Dermatitis herpetiformis also known as Duhring's disease and gluten ataxia are generally considered specific manifestations of celiac disease. Non-celiac gluten sensitivity symptoms and treatment are just like celiac disease without HLA similarity. Only recently gluten sensitivity has been separated from the celiac disease umbrella."[READ SOURCE]
After all of this time, you would think that celiac disease and gluten sensitivity on the whole would have a cure, but unfortunately, scientists are not sure what causes the condition to manifest in some people but not in others.  We know that genetics plays a part in determining gluten-sensitivity as parents who are gluten-sensitive are more likely to have children that are also sensitive to gluten and require food alternatives such as gluten-free pizza crusts; however, we don't know what the genetic trigger is.

100% Certified Gluten-Free Pizza Crust

For now the most important thing to know is that gluten-sensitivity is diverse with some people just experiencing mild allergic reactions to others who can experience full blown anaphylactic shock‎. That is why you need to be sure of the facility that makes your gluten-free pizza crust. Why?  That is because of the danger of cross-contamination.  Without separate facilities for gluten-free and regular baked goods, all it takes is a few particles of flour with gluten in it to contaminate the next dough that is put on the surface.
So make sure that your pizza crust doesn't just read gluten-free on the label.  Make sure that you have 100% gluten-free pizza crust.
