You probably already know a bit about gluten-free foods. What you might not know, however, is that sometimes, gluten can affect you neurologically.
Gluten-Free Foods and Neurological Illness
According to a Wikipedia article on gluten-sensitivity (https://goo.gl/xUNXSD), majority of neurological illnesses out there are caused or even exacerbated by gluten consumption.
In one study that observed people suffering from some sort of neurological illnesses without any known cause, it was discovered that 57% of the patient had antibodies fighting gluten in their blood.
Related studies have also shown that people who suffer from neurological disorders and gluten sensitivity may risk developing a condition called Cerebellar ataxia. This is a brain disorder which maims the ability of the patient to coordinate their balance, movement, and speech.
Another condition has been named Gluten Ataxia, a severe condition that affects the part of the brain called Cerebellum. The damage is irreversible.
It is therefore important that people who have established signs of gluten sensitivity should stick to a gluten-free diet. Not only do researchers link this protein to neural problems like Gluten Ataxia, but they also say that consumption of gluten diets among people who are sensitive to it may cause a vast array of problems that are likely to be solved with gluten-free diets.
(d) The risk of developing auto-immune diseases
If an individual has established that they are sensitive to this protein, or that gluten causes their immune system to fight material that is found naturally in the body, they must avoid it at all cost.
So far, doctors have discovered a number of auto-immune diseases affecting various organs in the body.
For example, we mentioned celiac disease which is considered one of the many auto-immune diseases affecting 3% of the population. If an individual is suffering from any of the auto-immune diseases, continued consumption of gluten foods can put them at risk of getting more auto-immune diseases.

If you’re currently suffering from gluten sensitivity, whether mild or severe, you have more reasons to buy gluten-free foods. By now, you have probably witnessed that whenever you switch to gluten foods, your symptoms are exacerbated.
Nevertheless, staying away from gluten doesn’t mean that you should quit your favorite snacks. The reason being, many gluten-free bakeries and food courts are now coming up. They now sell gluten-free pizza crusts among other snacks for those who would love to carry on with their usual lifestyle.
